HOW TO BUY TAHITIAN CULTURED PEARLS
Cultured Tahitian pearls are known for their natural black colors, above-average sizes and gorgeous array of natural colors.
SIZE We recommend sizes 8.0-9.0mm up through 13.0-14.0mm for pendants, rings and earrings. The smaller sizes of 9.0-12.0mm are versatile enough to be worn during both day and evening events and will look beautiful with any outfit! Larger sizes like the 12.0-13.0mm are luxurious and make an elegant statement with cultured pearls.
BODY COLOR AND OVERTONE– Tahitian cultured pearls are the only naturally black-colored cultured pearls commercially produced in the world today. The overtone is the iridescent color you see shimmering over the surface. The most popular Tahitian cultured pearl overtones are Peacock, Green and Silver/Steel. Peacock is the most popular, and features a mix of Green, Gold and Rose over the dark body color of the cultured pearl. Silver looks beautiful on women with blonde hair, pale or pink complexions, as these cultured pearls reflect the most light and appear brighter and larger than they really are. Green and blue-green can appear pale or intensely saturated, and will look beautiful on everyone.
LUSTER– Our AAA quality cultured pearl luster is highly reflective. Light sources reflecting off the cultured pearl should be crisp and sharp, with some slight blurring around reflected light sources. This is due to their thicker-than-average nacre, which by law, must meet a minimum nacre depth requirement of 0.8mm in order to qualify for export.
SURFACE QUALITY– Tahitian cultured pearl surface quality is graded on the A-AAA grading scale, however Pure Pearls only offers the finest AAA quality cultured pearls. AAA quality Tahitian cultured pearls will display less than 5-10% blemishing on the cultured pearls’ surface; earrings, pendants and rings will mount clean on the front.
